St. James' church in Falkenstein

The church dedicated to St. James the Greater in Falkenstein is open daily.

Embedded in the wine growing town of Falkenstein with its imposing castle ruins and numerous adjacent vineyards lies the parish St. James' church in Falkenstein.

The church is dedicated to St. James the Greater, is a product of late Romanesque-Gothic architecture and emanates the style of 17th century early Baroque.

Sandstone Madonna and Holy Trinity

A special trademark of this church is the Gothic Madonna, which was made from sandstone around 1400 and completely restored in 1990. Another highly interesting feature is the rare depiction of the Holy Trinity above the high altar which was created around 1700 and shows three divine persons in identical human form.
