City of Mistelbach

Municipal capital in the heart of the Weinviertel region

With the pilgrimage church Maria Rast, a Way of St. James fountain and numerous excursion destinations, the municipal capital offers ideal conditions for pilgrims.

The pilgrimage church Maria Rast, which the Way of St. James passes on its way to the city centre, was built in the 1970s.

Things worth seeing in Mistelbach

With the MAMUZ museum and the Nitsch museum, the municipal capital of Mistelbach features cultural highlights. But Mistelbach has also made a name for itself as a city of international puppet theatre in the past few years. If you plan a longer stay in Mistelbach, other tips include the Schwedenkeller (Swedish cellar), the path of Dionysos and the forest and bee educational trail. A Way of St. James fountain in front of the town hall allows you to refill your drinking bottles.

City parish church

Mount Kirchenberg, with its parish church dedicated to St. Martin built in the 15th century, towers above Mistelbach. The Lord's house was built as a three-naved Gothic hall church. Its steeple's lower part was constructed in the 10th century and belongs to the castle in its function as a watchtower. The painting Maria Himmelfahrt (Ascension of the Virgin Mary) is located next to a painting of St. Martin at the high altar.
