Municipality of Gedersdorf

On the way to the Wachau region.

Brunn im Felde is the location of the fourth and last St. James' church along the Way of St. James. The town belongs to the municipality of Gedersdorf.

The municipality of Gedersdorf is located 6 km east of Krems an der Donau, at the border to Kamp valley. The wine growing commune, rich in tradition, is nestled on the loam terraces of the Wagram ridge which can be seen from afar.

St. James' church in Brunn im Felde

This church has first been mentioned in 1108. In its current form, the church is a Josephinian hall church with a late Baroque nave and an incorporated steeple with onion shaped spire. The oldest parts of the church, the chancel and the impressive ribbed vaults, too, are worth a second look.

Gateway to the Wachau region

Gedersdorf practically serves as a gateway to the Wachau region. There, orchards and vineyards characterise the landscape. Cellar alleys, winemakers and Heurigen bars as well as the river Danube flowing close by create a picturesque landscape.
